Email to the Company
Before classifying any brand as cruelty-free and vegan, I send them an email with the following questions:
- Are your products vegan? If only some are vegan, which ones?
- Are any of your products or ingredients tested on animals?
- Do you have a Leaping Bunny or PETA certification?
- Do your suppliers or any third parties test animals on your behalf?
- Does your company sell products in mainland China (except Hong Kong)?
- Are you owned by a parent company that tests on animals?
This is how Kjaer Weis responded to my email:
Kjaer Weis has chosen to use beeswax (certified organic from the Soil Association and comes from sustainable bee farms in the UK) in our products for its nourishing properties, and some products contain carmine as a natural, non-synthetic colorant. While we are 100% cruelty-free, these two products do mean that not our entire line can be considered vegan. However, here is a list of our products that are vegan:
- The Beautiful Oil
- The Body Oil
- Pressed Powder
- Eye Shadows: Earthy Calm, Cloud Nine, Onyx, Divine, Magnetic, Green Depth, Transcend, Generosity, Pretty Purple
- Lip Pencils: Bare, Mauve, Classic, Flush
- Eye Pencils: Purple, Black, Brown, Blue
- Lip Gloss: Courage
- All brushes are cruelty-free synthetic bristles
- Beauty Clutch
- Cleanser & Toner
As mentioned we are cruelty-free and do not test on animals. Our products and all of their ingredients are certified by the CCPB (which does not approve ingredients tested on animals) and are made in Italy and sold in the EU, where animal testing is prohibited. Our products are not sold in mainland China and we are not owned by a parent company that tests on animals.
