Australia has been the top country on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. I traveled around Australia in April 2019 after living in Thailand for a year. Australia felt like home after living in the developing world for such a long time. The fact that they speak English is also incredibly convenient.

There is so much to see and do in Australia. The country is filled with natural beauty and man-made wonders like Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. The highlight of my trip was seeing all of the incredible animals like koalas, kangaroos, and dingos. Australia also has some of the best beaches in the world.

The hardest part about traveling to Australia is deciding where to go and what to do. Australia is huge! Whether you are a backpacker on a budget or are wanting a luxury vacation, you will have no shortage of things to do in Australia. I spent a month traveling the east coast, and I still feel like that wasn’t enough time. I am itching to go back and explore this country more.

The places that I visited were: Sydney, Melbourne, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Fraser Island, Whitsundays, and Cairns.

Regardless of where you decide to go and what you decide to do, my number one recommendation is to wear sunscreen. The sun is incredibly strong in Australia even when it doesn’t feel that hot.

Have you been to Australia? What was your favorite city and activity?
